The record / 20 August

History leaves
spaces behind.

The Pendle Witch Trials were real. In 1612, people from communities around Pendle were prosecuted at Lancaster Assizes; ten were executed. Their stories deserve care, not caricature.

The Pendle Circle explores the uncertain ground between documented history, Lancashire folklore and imagination. Its Circle is fictional.
